Berbat Teknolojiler (Terrible Tech in English) is a Turkish podcast I co-hosted and produced with my old friend Çağdaş, a UX designer, on the dux YouTube channel. We ran it from September 2025 to May 2026 and ended up with 20 episodes.
The idea was to look at all kinds of “modern failures” through the eyes of a designer and a product person, or just two people who are a bit too into technology.
So we talked about how modern tech fails users through flawed design, misguided strategy and cultural blind spots, and about tech-y things that were supposed to make life better but somehow didn’t.
Part of the reason was that we were bored. Every morning there’s a YouTube character announcing a new AI revolution, and we got tired of it, so we started talking instead. We were 11 episodes in by December 2025, and in April 2026 we started a second season.
At some point we added a spin-off where listeners send us anonymous work stories about the dark side of corporate life, and we go through them together.
Somewhere in between, I was also a guest on a separate dux episode with Çağdaş and my friend Nazlı, about AI and our jobs (it has its own page under talks).
To be fair, Çağdaş did the heavy lifting on editing and gave us a channel where people were already watching. For me, it was a format I had been daydreaming about for years, and it also showed me that talking to a friend on camera is easy, and talking to the camera alone is a completely different thing.
